Discover first church
elcome to First Congregational Church! Thanks for checking out our website. We know that visiting a church for the first time can be scary but you’ve already taken a huge step – you’re here – so, welcome! We’d love for you to join us on a Sunday morning so we’ve put together some frequently asked questions that we hope will lessen your anxiety and make your initial visit here the first of many!
Worship starts at 11am but is preceded by an organ prelude beginning at 10:30am. Our worship is traditional in style but progressive in theology. You can listen to or read any of our sermons by clicking here
This is always an issue in Los Angeles. You are welcome to park both in our lot off Commonwealth Ave or just to the west, which is free on Sunday mornings. Click here if you not quite sure where you’re going…
How will I know where to go?
When you arrive for worship, you’ll find many people ready to welcome you. One of our staff or volunteers will be in the parking lot as you enter. This person can help answer questions, give directions or just provide a smiling face. If you arrive early and aren’t quite ready to enter our sanctuary, there is always fair trade coffee available in Mayflower Courtyard. Just ask a volunteer to show you the way!
One of our hospitality volunteers will be glad to walk you to our First Kids First rooms and introduce you to our fantastic staff. Our nursery staff provides a safe, loving environment should you wish to leave your infant in their care. Toddlers and older children are welcome to sit with you for the opening hymn and prayers of worship followed by a brief blessing of our children. Children are then dismissed to have their own time of learning, singing, and fellowship. Click here to learn more about our children’s programs…
What if I still want to learn more?
Check out the about us section of our website or we’d love to have you join us for our next Discover First Church. This is a casual, no-pressure event with our senior minister to learn more about us and meet others who have been visiting.
