Your Commonwealth Outreach Team is excited about Christmas for Commonwealth 2013! At the request of Commonwealth Elementary School Principal Marilyn Estrada, we will be asking mem-
bers to sponsor various books for the Commonwealth Elementary School Library. Due to the yearly budget cuts LAUSD has imposed on local schools like Commonwealth, it has been many years since the library was stocked. Imagine the joy on the face of a child who has just checked out the book you sponsored!
Before and after worship on Sundays December 1-22 you are encouraged to stop by the Outreach display in the forecourt and at coffee fellowship and sponsor as many books as you would like for the average cost of $15 each. After input from teachers and a review of the Commonwealth Elementary School library, 300 of the best books for Kindergarten thru 5th grade have been purchased by your Outreach Committee. Our challenge to all of you is to sponsor these books for the children of our neighborhood, celebrating literacy, imagination and the wonder of knowledge for years to come.
With each book you sponsor at the Outreach table you will have the opportunity to write a note on a book plate that will go into one of the 300 books we are providing the school. It can be a note of encouragement, support or even a note celebrating a loved one – whatever you choose. Or, if you prefer we’ll take care of the wording for you. The books will be delivered to the school when students return from the winter break.
Thank you in advance for your support! If you have any questions stop by the table one Sunday in Advent or contact Cathy Gellert, Commonwealth Outreach Team Leader at email@example.com, Outreach Committee Chair Stephanie Kendell at firstname.lastname@example.org or Rev. Ryan Steitz at email@example.com or 213.355.5232.
