Sunday, September 12

  • 12:15 PM  |  Festival Sunday
  • You won't want to miss the kick off of our exciting new year on Sunday, September 12, 2010, our Festival Sunday!
  • Join us for a new start to our First Kids First program, as well as our Adult Faith Development Series. Plus, we'll enjoy the return of the Cathedral Choir and launch our theme for the year: "Love, Compassion and the Art of Forgiveness."
  • Following our uplifting service, we will celebrate with fun, food and music as representatives from our various activity groups will be on hand to provide information, as well as an opportunity to sign up for our Young Adult Fellowship, Women's Association, Cedar Lake Camp Fall Family Retreat and more. You will also be able to pick up the newest version of our Membership Directory.

Friday, September 17 — Sunday, September 19

  • Fall Family Retreat at Cedar Lake Camp
  • You are invited to Cedar Lake Camp for the Fall Family Retreat, “Connections,” to see, hear, touch, feel and smell what it means to be alive in God’s awesome beauty.
  • During our program on September 18, we will explore one of the parables of Jesus, “The Prodigal Son,” as a paradigm of what it means to be in a relationship with God who embraces us with love and mercy.
  • Contact Rev. Dae Jung or Cindy Dizon (213-385-7294) for more information. Sign up in the Mayflower Courtyard or Forecourt after church every Sunday through September 12.

Saturday, September 25

  • 10:00 AM  |  "Forgive for Good"
  • The first big event focused on our theme of "Love, Compassion and the Art of Forgiveness" will begin on Saturday, September 25th at 10:00am, as we welcome noted author, professor and researcher, Dr. Frederic Luskin of Stanford University.
  • This extraordinary workshop entitled "Forgive for Good" presents the forgiveness training methodology that has been validated through six successful research studies conducted through the Stanford Forgiveness Projects. Dr. Luskin's research demonstrates that learning forgiveness lessens the physical and emotional toll of stress, decreases hurt, anger, depression and blood pressure.

Sunday, September 26

  • 11:00 AM  |  Stories of Compassion from Ground Zero
  • We continue exploring this theme on Sunday, September 26, as we welcome Rev. Lyndon Harris, Executive Director of Garden of Forgiveness, to the pulpit during our morning worship.
  • Rev. Harris was the priest in charge of the relief ministries at Ground Zero offered through Saint Paul's Chapel after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. Fueled by his frontline involvement of that tragedy, he travels the country speaking about the transformative experiences of Saint Paul's Chapel.
  • Following our service, we will share lunch and a Q&A session with Rev. Harris.
